Integrative Counselling in Dinas Powys, Barry and Online

A Warm and Compassionate Space for Healing and Growth

Welcome and thank you for visiting Kathryn Hobbs Counselling

Maybe you've been thinking about counselling for some time. It takes courage to consider working with a counsellor, and reaching out can feel like a huge step. But deep down, you know that something has to change and I’m here to let you know that you don’t have to do this on your own. I understand where you are and what has brought you here today.

You’re here because remaining where you are no longer feels sustainable. I know how hard that can be. Taking this step takes courage, and your presence here matters.

Taking the First Step

I'm Kathryn, a BACP registered integrative therapist, which means I draw from different therapeutic approaches to find what works for you. Everything I do is trauma-informed and inclusive. That's not just about big traumatic events. It's about understanding how your past experiences shape how you feel now, and how those patterns might be getting in your way.

I work with adults and couples, and I also offer clinical supervision for other therapists. Whether you're looking for short-term focused work or longer-term exploration, we'll figure out what you need. This is your therapy. You lead the way; I just walk alongside you.

How Counselling Works

Therapy's a confidential space where you can talk without judgement. A safe space where you don't have to manage anyone else's reactions or make yourself smaller. My role isn't to fix you or tell you what to do, it's to help you make sense of things, to notice patterns you might not have seen, and to support you in working out what you want to change. Sometimes that's relief. Sometimes it's clarity. Often, it's both.

What Brings People to Therapy

People reach out for support for all sorts of reasons. It may be anxiety that won't shift, or grief that feels too heavy. You may be struggling with low self-worth that's been there so long it feels normal. I work a lot with trauma and how childhood experiences create barriers, those invisible things that stop you from going for that job, that relationship, the life you actually want. We might look at shame, life transitions, and relationship patterns. Maybe you're struggling to connect with your emotions. Maybe you've lost someone, even a beloved pet. Whatever's brought you here, there's space for it, and you and I can explore it together.

Working Together

I work from my calm and comfortable practice in Dinas Powys in the Vale of Glamorgan, which means I offer support for people from Penarth, Barry, Cardiff and the surrounding areas. I also work online, which means that we can work together from anywhere in the UK, from a location of your choosing.

Let's Talk

I offer a free initial consultation by phone or Zoom so we can talk about what's bringing you to counselling and see if we're a good fit. No pressure, no commitment. Just a conversation.
