Integrative Counsellor in Dinas Powys, Barry and Online
I qualified as a counsellor in 2012, and I've been in private practice for six years. But my understanding of what brings people to therapy goes back much further than that.
I spent 20 years working in the charity sector with people who'd been pushed to the edges. Homelessness, mental health crises, and young people in the care system. I saw how life throws us different challenges, how we don't all start from the same place or have the same opportunities. And I saw how the right support at the right time could help people overcome the barriers that felt impossible.
That's what drew me to this work, helping people find a way through.
I've held management roles, taught others, and somewhere along the line, I experienced the benefits of therapy myself. I live with a chronic health condition, so I know what it's like when your body doesn't cooperate with your plans. I know about adjusting, about grief for the life you thought you'd have, about finding meaning anyway.
The values that run through everything I do are inclusion, equality, integrity, professionalism, and compassion. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. I believe in meeting you where you are and working out together what you need.
I'm committed to ongoing professional development, receive regular clinical supervision, and work within the BACP Code of Ethics.
